The series, PSA : From H@#$%Town to C@#$%Ville is inspired by stand-up comedy and how comedians can engage in a truth-telling that neither an academic, politician or newspaper could ever get away with; because it's cloaked in humor, people can absorb it consciously or unconsciously.
The format was inspired by the kind of cheap advertising you see on the subway that engages in the most transparent form of tokenism: different genders from different ethnicities and nationalities portrayed as if this were an egalitarian world where "all people are created equal".
In most of the pictures the figures have no facial features, there is no life in ones face or spirit behind the eyes; they have been reduced to stereotypes with different skin color.
This work also has an audio component that is a montage of the comedians: Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor, Paul Mooney, Chris Rock, Sarah Silverman, John Leguizamo, Margret Cho and many others interwoven with socially conscience soul and Hip Hop music that inspired this work
